Mini-Nubians are a mid-size dairy breed, originating from a cross between a Nigerian Dwarf buck and a Nubian doe. The first cross is a first generation (F1) Mini-Nubian. At the 6th generation (F6) a Mini-Nubian is considered purebred, if it meets breed standards.
We keep a small herd of MDGA registered Mini-Nubians on our homestead. Our herd goals are to breed healthy animals with correct dairy conformation and productive, easy to milk udders. We take biosecurity seriously, testing annually for CAE, CL, and Johnes and have a clean herd. We strive to raise our goats as naturally as possible. Our goats are fed grass hay and alfalfa. We do not typically feed grain. They have access to free choice minerals. We do not vaccinate. Herbal dewormers are used as needed. That said, if a particular animal has a health need, we follow the advice of our veterinarian.
